You never want a mortgage, it’s just a means to an end, you want your dream home and the mortgage is the means to achieve that. 

A lot of the time people will find the home they want and then try and find the mortgage to achieve the home purchase, often without luck. The issue is that at the present time the credit crunch has made lenders reluctance to lend people money.

I would advise my clients to get their mortgage organised before they start looking for properties. By doing that they’ll know how much they have to spend and this will put them in a much stronger position when they make offers on a property they want.
